Generation WE

Watch and learn. When I heard this it completely stopped me in my tracks. I was born into this generation, but I must say that I am truly not a part of it if this is what we stand for. I went to the generation we website and found something rather interesting. On the home page you find a partial list of endorsements. Among those individuals that endorse this movement are Bill Clinton, Van Jones, Arianna Huffington, Harry Reid, and Muhammad Yunus, Founder of Green Bank and Co-Winner of the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize. Endorsed by, or orchestrated by? You decide.

My version of generation WE-

Commercials are always selling something and WE are not buying what you are selling.

WE do not need commercials to tell us how we think.

WE respect previous generations and value their experience, wisdom and contributions.

WE are ethnically diverse, but we are defined by the "content of our character."

WE know that it is impossible for government sponsored social programs or "multi-billion dollar" research for clean energy to decrease our staggering national debt.

WE do not seek for power through politics; WE seek to make a difference through public service.

WE can be tolerant and still believe that there is a right and wrong.

WE respect the earth that God created for our use and will care for it as our stewardship, but never use this concern as a tool to limit inherent freedom or to further a political agenda.

WE will be politically involved, but not politically minded and instead will be value and principle minded.

WE may be electronically adept, but we did not invent the computer.

WE are concerned about the welfare of people around the globe, but our loyalty, allegiance, love and duty are with the United States of America.

WE are intelligent but must become FAR more educated to even hold a candle to the great minds of the past.

WE are peace-loving but know that the Father of our Country was right when he said "If we desire to avoid insult, we must be able to repel it; if we desire to secure peace, one of the most powerful instruments of our rising prosperity, it must be known, that we are at all times ready for War."

WE do not seek to be arrogant, but we will unabashedly declare that the Constitution of the United States of America provides the best form of government in the world. The prosperity we enjoy is because previous generations have honored the principles that it espouses and if you would like to be a part of that, you are welcome to come here legally.

WE believe in the rights of the individual, and that when individuals act in a way that is for their own true benefit and good that it works for a collective good and not the other way around.

WE believe in progress, but we are not "Progressives"- WE may be able to reach higher than generations of the past, but if we do it is only because we stand on the intellectual shoulders of great men and women who were willing to fight and live and die to preserve the freedom that we have been handed on a silver platter.

WE realize that the only rights we were given at birth are those that we were endowed with by our Creator and that among those are "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." WE also have the right to succeed or to fail on our very own merit and have the responsibility to work to provide for all of our physical needs without the encroachment of men or government.

WE do not desire to be unified for the purpose of controlling a political landscape but to secure an environment of freedom and equal justice under the law for ourselves and for our children.

I am one of many.

E pluribus unum
